Overview
Hashing gives analysts a stable way to identify an application artifact and compare it across tools, reports, or investigations.
Hashes and related file identifiers help analysts compare samples, track versions, search reports, and correlate binaries across tools or investigations. They do not explain behavior by themselves, but they are useful anchors during triage and documentation.
In this lab, you practice disciplined sample identification and why repeatable metadata matters in reverse engineering workflows.
